http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/4 422086.stm - No to 90 days! I'm very happy about this! Now, I could be wrong but I believe that this is the first time Blair has ever lost a vote in the house of commons. He rolled the dice and we all won! (I'm getting sick of his "I can do what the fuck I like as long as I mention 'terror'" stance).
And on this happy note... I'm off home to shoot computer generated zombies! :-D

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/4 419970.stm - Yup. Today's the day. Will the police be able to hold people without arresting them for 90 days without having to charge them (or in fact have any evidence against them) on the suspicion that they might turn out to be an agent or terror? By American standards this is quite a tame law (with the period being about 4 years and counting at the moment over there). I really hope that the government looses. I quite like our whole "guilty until proven innocent" kinda legal system... Call me old fashioned if you like, but the Sun reader's "If you've done nothing wrong, you've got nothing to worry about" stance just doesn't wash with me. I suspect that if he were alive it wouldn't cut much ice with Jean Charles de Menezes either. Next stop, disband all courts. If the police have the power to assume someone's guilt unchecked then what's the point in due process?
Okay, that's a rather alarmist view of things but I worry that this is where we might be heading. Police + State = You do the math...
