The 'war on terror' or just spying on people?

http://observer.guardian.co.uk/uk_news/story/0,,2132099,00.html - I kind of think that I don't want to visit America any more. I don't especially like my details being kept on UK government databases, so I'm less than pleased to find that my details could be passed around any number of US government agencies for up to 15 years (with really not guarantee that they'll actually delete the data after that period of time.)

Apologists would say "If you've done nothing wrong then you have nothing to fear" but that's just bollocks. There are many people around the world that are currently being held without trial on the merest suspicion of being a terrorism or enemy of the state. Hell, just for saying that I don't like the current US government there could be a flag on a file somewhere that turns me into a 'threat'. And then there are issues with keeping that data safe from hackers.

Hardcore pawn

Maybe there's another recession on the way. Nothing like one of those to get people tightening their belts and thinking about the future rather than the here and now.
